How about instead of in lieu of, in addition to?  I have the 1DMII 
and 5D and will carry them to assignments that I can drive to.   For 
the assignments I love, in developing countries, where you have to 
walk miles to take photos in dark houses by firelight, I'll be carrying the 
M8.
