I wish to thank all list members who responded to my request for info on the 
Drobo.

To be clear the NAS will also be used to stream audio and video files and in 
this respect the Drobo is a bit weak as it does not support Logitech's 
squeezebox server as yet. Of course, a shoe-box sized fanless PC will run 
SBS, but I  prefer to avoid having to run another box 24/7.

At the moment I am trying to decide between the Ready NAS or Synology DS 
arrays. Off list it was suggested that I should get TWO  NAS boxes, so down 
the road I may end up with a Drobo after all.
